Natural wax (carnauba) offers a deep, warm shine, highly appreciated by purists. Its durability is 4 to 8 weeks on average. It is easy to work with and forgives application mistakes. Synthetic wax (sealant) is made up of polymers that create a more resistant barrier: its protection lasts 3 to 6 months. The finish is more glossy and glassy, but less “warm” than carnauba. Some products combine both (hybrid wax) to bring together durability and aesthetics. AGM Vision offers both types so that everyone can find the finish that suits them.

Apply the wax to a clean, dry and decontaminated vehicle. Take a small amount with a foam applicator pad. Spread in light circular motions on one panel at a time (hood, door…). Let the wax haze for 5 to 15 minutes (it whitens slightly as it dries). Wipe with a clean, dry microfiber, turning the cloth regularly. Work in the shade and on bodywork that is cool to the touch. Two thin coats are better than one thick coat. AGM Vision recommends applying the wax every 1 to 3 months to maintain optimal protection.

Yes, wax forms a hydrophobic layer that protects the clear coat against several aggressions. Against UV, carnauba- or polymer-based waxes filter part of the radiation and slow down clear coat oxidation. Against rain, the water-repellent effect makes water slide off and prevents limescale marks. Wax also protects against bird droppings, tree resin, and industrial fallout. However, a wax is not a substitute for ceramic coating for long-lasting protection. It offers a compromise between ease of application and effective short-term protection.

It is not recommended in most cases. A ceramic coating already creates protection superior to wax and does not need an additional layer. Applying a wax on top can mask the hydrophobic properties of the coating and complicate its maintenance. On the other hand, some products called “boosters” or “toppers” are specially formulated to be applied on a coating in order to revive its hydrophobicity and its shine. To maintain a coating, prefer a pH-neutral shampoo and a compatible quick detailer. AGM Vision specifies the compatibility of each product with ceramic coatings.

The duration depends on the type of wax and the conditions of use. A pure carnauba wax lasts 4 to 8 weeks. A synthetic sealant lasts 3 to 6 months. A hybrid wax (carnauba + polymers) falls between the two, with 2 to 4 months. Several factors reduce the duration: outdoor parking, frequent washes, exposure to sun and salt. To maximize longevity, wash with a pH-neutral shampoo with no stripping effect and dry properly. The water-beading effect test makes it possible to check whether the protection is still active.
