The choice of an auto detailing shampoo depends on several criteria. Opt for a product with a neutral pH (6.5 to 7.5) that respects the existing protection (wax, sealant, coating). Check the foaming power: a dense foam lubricates better and reduces the risk of scratches. The concentration determines the number of washes per bottle (a shampoo concentrated at 1:500 is more economical). Some shampoos include wax for immediate shine. For pre-wash with a foam cannon, choose a pre-wash specific product with higher degreasing power. AGM Vision offers professional concentrated shampoos by the liter.

A pH-neutral shampoo (pH 6,5-7,5) cleans gently without altering existing protections (wax, sealant, ceramic coating). It’s the ideal choice for regular maintenance.A alkaline shampoo (pH 9-12) is more aggressive: it degreases thoroughly and strips old layers of wax or sealant. It is used before applying a new protection or to treat very dirty vehicles.Warning: an alkaline shampoo used regularly can dull the clear coat and speed up wear of the coating. AGM Vision recommends pH-neutral for 90 % of washes.

The foam cannon connects to a pressure washer and turns the shampoo into thick foam. Fill the tank with the recommended dosage of shampoo (generally 50 to 100 ml for 1 L of water). Adjust the nozzle to obtain a dense and covering foam. Apply the foam from bottom to top over the entire vehicle and let it work for 3 to 5 minutes (without letting it dry). Rinse from top to bottom. The foam encapsulates dirt and loosens it without rubbing, considerably reducing the risk of scratches. This is the ideal pre-wash step before washing with a mitt.

A classic shampoo diluted in a foam cannon can be used as a light pre-wash, but it will be less effective than a dedicated pre-wash product. Specific pre-washes contain degreasing agents and more powerful surfactants that better dissolve embedded dirt, insects, and road grime, without contact. A pH-neutral shampoo does not have this decontaminating power. For routine maintenance on a not very dirty vehicle, foaming shampoo is enough. For a very dirty vehicle, use a true pre-wash, followed by shampoo with a wash mitt, for a deep clean.

The quantity depends on the shampoo concentration.A concentrated shampoo is generally diluted at 1:500 (10 ml for 5 L of water) for the wash bucket.For the foam cannon, allow 50 to 100 ml of pure shampoo per wash.In total, a 1 liter bottle therefore allows 10 to 20 complete washes (cannon + bucket).Entry-level shampoos, less concentrated (1:100 dilution), are used up faster and end up more expensive per wash.AGM Vision offers ultra-concentrated shampoos that provide the best cost per wash ratio.
