Matte paint requires specific products, without gloss agents. A standard shampoo with wax or gloss is prohibited: it creates unsightly and irregular shiny areas. Use a special matte shampoo that cleans without altering the finish. Avoid mechanical polishing, which buffs the surface and destroys the matte effect. For stubborn stains, a mild degreaser, applied locally, is sufficient. Protection is done with a wax or a special matte coating that preserves the satin appearance. Vinyl wrap and PPF film are cleaned with a pH-neutral shampoo and a soft microfiber mitt. Avoid pressure washers at less than 30 cm and jets that are too hot (maximum 60°C), which can lift the edges. Aggressive solvents (acetone, thinner) should be avoided, as they dissolve the vinyl. For insects and tar, use a special film product without solvent. Vinyl wrap can be protected with a dedicated sealant or coating. PPF is protected with a ceramic coating, which reinforces its self-healing properties (if the film has them).

The PPF film can be lightly polished to remove superficial micro-scratches, provided you use a very fine polish and a soft pad, at low speed. Some high-end PPFs are self-healing: a simple spray of hot water is enough to erase light scratches. On the other hand, vinyl wrap must never be polished: polishing abrades the color layer and can pierce the film. For defects on vinyl, the only solution is the replacement of the panel concerned. AGM Vision recommends always testing products on an invisible area before a complete treatment.

A high-quality vinyl wrap lasts between 3 and 7 years, depending on the brand, sun exposure, and maintenance. Dark colors fade faster. A PPF film (paint protection) lasts 5 to 10 years: it is thicker and designed to withstand gravel impacts and scratches. Both types of film are sensitive to intense UV, which accelerates their aging. A garage or covered parking significantly extends their lifespan. Applying a ceramic coating on top protects the film from UV and extends its duration by an additional 2 to 3 years.

On a matte paint, avoid any product containing gloss enhancers (gloss enhancer), traditional waxes, abrasive polish, and shampoos with a “shine” effect. These products create glossy areas that alter the finish. On a vinyl wrap, avoid strong solvents (acetone, white spirit, gasoline), petroleum-based cleaners, and abrasive sponges. Steam cleaners can lift the edges of the film. Use only products specifically formulated for these finishes.
