An automotive degreaser removes greasy and stubborn dirt that regular shampoo cannot dissolve: tar, road grease residues, oil marks and industrial pollution. It is used by spraying directly onto dirty areas, before or after washing. Degreasers are available in solvent-based versions (more effective on tar) or water-based versions (more respectful of protective coatings). Always rinse thoroughly after application. AGM Vision offers effective multi-surface degreasers for the bodywork, wheels, wheel arches and the engine bay.

Insect residues contain acids that can attack the clear coat if they remain too long. To remove them, spray a dedicated bug remover on the affected areas (bumper, hood, mirrors). Leave it on for 2 to 5 minutes so that the product softens the residues, then wipe with a damp microfiber cloth. For embedded marks, use a clay bar after washing. As a preventive measure, apply a wax or a coating that makes subsequent cleaning easier. AGM Vision recommends treating insects within 48 hours to avoid damage to the clear coat.

A properly used degreaser does not damage the clear coat, provided you respect the recommended dwell time and rinse thoroughly. Strong alkaline degreasers (pH above 12) can dull the paint or strip protections if they are left on too long. Always work on a cool surface and in the shade. Never let the product dry on the bodywork. Moderate pH degreasers (9-11) offer a good compromise between effectiveness and safety. After intensive degreasing, it is recommended to re-protect the paint with a wax or a sealant.

The degreaser targets organic and greasy contamination: tar, oil, grease, insects. The fallout remover (ferrous decontaminant) targets metal particles embedded in the clear coat (brake dust, industrial fallout). The fallout remover contains chemical agents that react on contact with iron and take on a characteristic purple color. These two products are complementary and are used at different stages of decontamination. AGM Vision recommends the following order: pre-wash, degreaser on targeted areas, wash, then fallout remover over the entire vehicle.

Tar is one of the most stubborn types of contamination. Spray a special tar degreaser directly onto the stains and let it work for 1 to 3 minutes. The product dissolves the bitumen, which becomes wipeable with a microfiber. For fresh splatters, simple WD-40 can also work as a stopgap. Avoid scrubbing with an abrasive sponge, which would scratch the clear coat. After treatment, wash the area with shampoo to remove solvent residues. A wax or coating-type protection will prevent tar from adhering as strongly in the future.
