Decontaminant & Tar Remover

A decontaminant removes contaminants embedded in the clear coat that conventional washing does not remove: ferrous residues, industrial fallout, tar and tree resin. It is an essential step before any polishing or the application of a protection. See our decontaminants.

The clay bar is a mechanical decontamination tool that, when passed over the paint with a lubricant, pulls off embedded particles. The light blue Chemical Guys clay bar is suitable for regular maintenance, without risk to the clear coat.

Choose the hardness according to the level of contamination: blue (light) for routine maintenance, yellow (medium-light) for moderate contamination, grey (medium) or black (hard) for severe cases.

Spray the Clay Luber Chemical Guys generously onto the surface, then pass the clay bar in light linear motions. The lubricant allows the bar to glide without scratching, while capturing contaminants.

Decontamination is recommended every 3 to 6 months, or as soon as the paint has a rough texture to the touch despite careful washing. It is essential before any paint correction, wax application, or a ceramic treatment.
