Black Light by Chemical Guys is a hybrid glaze designed for black and dark paints. It combines a gloss enhancer and a sealant protection in a single bottle, for owners of dark vehicles who want a deep finish without going through a machine correction step.
A glaze formulated for dark shades
A black or dark paint highlights the slightest surface defect. Black Light acts precisely on this point: it optically fills micro-scratches and small signs of wear, without abrading the clear coat, then seals the surface to restore a smooth, wet look.

The product is intended for black, dark gray, midnight blue, or burgundy bodywork, on cars, motorcycles, or vans. It is used on paint, for routine maintenance as well as as a finishing step after a careful wash. On a light paint, Chemical Guys offers the White Light version, designed for white and silver shades.

Instructions for use of the Black Light Chemical Guys glaze
Black Light is applied to clean, dry paintwork, after washing and drying. The product is worked in a thin layer: an excessive amount unnecessarily lengthens the buffing time without improving the finish.
Hand application
- Wash and dry the vehicle completely.
- Place three to five drops of glaze on a foam or microfiber applicator.
- Spread in a thin, even layer over the entire bodywork, panel by panel.
- Let the product bond to the surface for 15 minutes.
- Wipe with a clean, quality microfiber, without pressing.
Machine application
- Fit a clean finishing pad on the polisher.
- Apply a few drops of product to the pad and spread them dry over the panel.
- Work without pressure, crossing passes, until you obtain an even film.
- Let it sit for 15 minutes, then remove the residue with a microfiber.
Second coat
A second coat is optional. If you wish to apply it, wait 30 minutes after removing the first to allow the product to harden, then repeat the same method.
Good to know
- Black Light is a glaze: it masks light defects, but does not correct the clear coat. Marked paint first requires a correcting polish.
- The product is intended for paint. Do not use it as a cleaner or as a decontaminant.
- The manufacturer’s labeling indicates the presence of diethanolamine under California Proposition 65 regulations: avoid prolonged contact with skin and work in a ventilated area.
- Close the bottle after use and store it at room temperature.
