Instructions for use of the Convertible Top Waterproofer Chemical Guys
Chemical Guys provides a precise protocol for applying Convertible Top Protectant and Repellent. The protection is applied only to a clean and perfectly dry convertible top: a soiled fabric would trap dirt under the hydrophobic barrier and produce an uneven result.
Prepare the convertible top and the vehicle
- Test the textile’s colorfastness on an inconspicuous area.
- Clean the convertible top beforehand with a dedicated convertible-top cleaner.
- Let the fabric dry completely before moving on to protection.
- Mask the rubber seals and exposed plastic trim with protective tape to avoid overspray.
Apply the protection in two coats
- Shake the bottle well before use.
- Spray a first coat directly onto the fabric, evenly and without overapplying.
- Let dry for 20 minutes.
- Apply the second coat using the same method.
- Wipe off any overspray that landed on the paint and glass.
