Red Chemical Guys wash bucket 19 L

The red Chemical Guys wash bucket offers a 19 L capacity for the two-bucket method. Its translucent wall makes it possible to check the shampoo dilution, and its bottom accepts the Cyclone Dirt Trap grid.

Red Chemical Guys wash bucket: the basis of a two-bucket wash
The red Chemical Guys wash bucket is a 19 L detailing bucket, i.e. 4.5 gallons, intended for hand washing a car, a motorcycle, or a van. Its translucent red tint serves two roles: to immediately identify the bucket’s role in the wash setup and to let you see, through the wall, the amount of foam and the shampoo dilution.
A volume designed for the two-bucket method
The two-bucket method consists of separating the wash-solution bucket from the mitt-rinse bucket. Dirt pulled from the bodywork stays at the bottom of the rinse bucket instead of going back onto the paint. With 19 L per bucket, the bath remains properly diluted from the first to the last panel, including on a large vehicle.
Color coding, a real time-saver
- Assigning one color to the shampoo bucket and another to the rinse bucket eliminates any confusion during washing.
- Red stands out clearly from the Chemical Guys transparent wash bucket, often reserved for rinsing the mitt.
- A third bucket dedicated to wheels and tires is also spotted at a glance.
Compatible with Chemical Guys bucket accessories
The bottom of the bucket accommodates the Cyclone Dirt Trap grid, which keeps abrasive particles at the bottom and prevents them from rising back up toward the mitt. The Chemical Guys lid fits on top of the bucket: it closes the container for storage and turns the whole thing into a spare seat while working on the rocker panels or the wheels.
What a bucket alone doesn’t do
A bucket does not protect the clear coat on its own. It is the combination of a sufficient volume of water, a bottom grid, and a chenille microfiber wash mitt, rinsed after each panel, that limits micro-scratches. The bucket remains a container: it is judged on its capacity, its rigidity, and its compatibility with the brand’s accessories.
Instructions for use of the red Chemical Guys wash bucket
This bucket fits into a two- or three-bucket wash setup. Here is how to use it day to day, then how to maintain it between washes.
Prepare the two-bucket wash
- Place a Cyclone Dirt Trap grid at the bottom of each bucket.
- Fill the red bucket with water and measure the shampoo according to the dilution indicated by the product manufacturer.
- Fill the second bucket with clean water: it will be used only to rinse the mitt.
- Rinse the car with a hose to remove the largest dust particles before any contact.
Wash the bodywork
- Dip the mitt into the red bucket and wash one panel at a time, from top to bottom.
- Rinse the mitt in the clean-water bucket by rubbing it on the bottom grid.
- Wring it out, dip it again in the red bucket, then move on to the next panel.
- Finish with the dirtiest areas: rocker panels, bumpers, and wheel wells.
Maintenance and storage
- Empty both buckets as soon as the wash is finished, without letting dirty water sit at the bottom.
- Rinse the inside with clean water, remove the grid, and let the bucket dry upside down.
- Close with the Chemical Guys lid to store the mitt, microfiber towels, and bottles inside.
Precautions
Do not use the bucket as a seat or as a step stool without its lid. Keep it protected from frost and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, which wear out the plastic. Finally, reserve this bucket for washing the bodywork: a bucket that has contained a wheel cleaner or a decontaminant must be thoroughly rinsed before going back over the paint.
