It is a 30.48 cm circular insert that is placed at the bottom of a wash bucket to trap dirt under its filter. The mitt is unloaded onto it, and abrasive particles remain isolated from the clean water.

The underside of the grid has nearly 300 cyclonic funnels that work like a check valve and let dirt pass in only one direction. Once below the filter, the particles do not rise back into the wash solution, even when dipping the glove again.

A classic grit guard is a simple perforated separator that keeps deposits at the bottom, while the Cyclone Dirt Trap adds one-way filtration and ribbed rings to scrub the mitt. Cleaning the mitt is therefore done directly on the grit guard, without re-suspension.

Swirl marks mainly come from grains of sand and dust brought back from the bucket to the bodywork. By keeping these particles under the filter, the grid greatly reduces the risk of micro-scratches during hand washing, without eliminating it if the mitt is dirty or worn.

Place a grid in the bucket of wash solution and one in the bucket of clean water, then wash an area, rub the mitt on the ribs of the rinse bucket and reload it in the wash solution before moving on to the next area. A Citrus Wash and Gloss shampoo and a chenille microfiber mitt complete the wash station.

It is designed for standard wash buckets with an interior diameter of 30.48 cm, into which it is forcefully pushed down until it presses against the wall. On a narrower bucket, such as the FullCarX detailing bucket, it is better to choose a model supplied with its own grid.
