It is aimed at anyone who washes their vehicle by hand and wants to limit micro-scratches and swirls left by traditional sponges.
A truly soft 70/30 microfiber
The plush is made from a 70/30 microfiber blend, Chemical Guys’ benchmark for its wash textiles. This composition offers a supple contact on the paint and a high absorption capacity: the mitt holds a large amount of soapy water, which maintains a lubricating film between the fiber and the clear coat throughout the pass.
Strands that trap dirt
- The hundreds of chenille strands act like Velcro and capture abrasive particles.
- Dirt is stored in the core of the plush, away from the surface in contact with the bodywork.
- The risk of dragging a grain of sand across the clear coat is significantly reduced compared to a smooth sponge.

Which surfaces to use it on
The mitt is suitable for paint, glass, plastics and exterior rubber, as well as metal parts: stainless steel, aluminum and chrome. It is also used on wheels with a clear-coated, anodized, matte, glossy or painted finish. To protect the bodywork, however, set aside a separate mitt for the wheels and rocker panels, which concentrate brake residue and small stones.
To pair with a two-bucket method
The mitt delivers its full potential with a car shampoo and two wash buckets: one for the foamy solution, one for rinsing the mitt. Drying is then done with a drying microfiber to avoid water spots.
Instructions for use of the Chemical Guys microfiber chenille wash mitt
A wash mitt only protects the paint if it is used and maintained correctly. Here are the steps to follow during washing, then to restore the mitt between two uses.
Wash the bodywork
- Rinse the vehicle thoroughly with clean water to remove most of the dust and dirt.
- Prepare a bucket of foamy solution and a second bucket of clean water intended for rinsing the mitt.
- Immerse the mitt in the solution, then wash panel by panel, in a straight line and without pressing.
- Start with the roof and work down toward the rocker panels, keeping the dirtiest areas for last.
- Rinse the mitt in the bucket of clean water after each panel, before reloading it with shampoo.
- Rinse the car and dry it immediately with a drying microfiber.
Maintain the mitt
- Rinse the mitt with clean water as soon as the wash is finished to remove sand and residue.
- Machine-wash it in hot water with a detergent dedicated to microfibers, such as Microfiber Wash.
- Tumble-dry it at low temperature, then store it away from dust.
Precautions
- Never use fabric softener or dryer sheets: they clog the microfibers, which become non-absorbent.
- Discard the mitt if it has fallen on the ground, because small stones embedded in the pile scratch the paint.
