Clay Luber Chemical Guys clay bar lubricant: scratch-free decontamination

The Clay Luber from Chemical Guys is a ready-to-use synthetic lubricant, intended for mechanical decontamination of the bodywork. It is used with a clay bar or clay block, on a vehicle that has already been washed, to remove embedded contaminants that a shampoo does not loosen.

What a clay bar lubricant is used for

Clay should never be used dry. Clay Luber creates a slick film between the clay and the clear coat: friction drops, the clay glides instead of grabbing, and the risk of micro-scratches or circular marks decreases significantly.

What decontamination removes

  • Industrial fallout and embedded dust
  • Tar, tree sap and insect residues
  • Limescale water spots and paint overspray
  • Clear coat residues that remained stuck after washing

Compatible surfaces

Chemical Guys indicates that Clay Luber is suitable for paint, glass, headlights and taillights in transparent plastic, as well as polished metal parts. It can also lubricate a wash mitt used during the clay process.

Why choose a dedicated lubricant

  • Unlike soapy water, it does not dissolve the clay bar
  • It extends the usable life of the clay
  • It makes the pass faster and more consistent on large surfaces

When to use Clay Luber

Clay decontamination takes place after washing and before polishing or protection. Once the bodywork is smooth to the touch, apply a wax or a sealant to protect the clear coat again. This lubricant naturally pairs with a Chemical Guys gray clay bar.

Format

Clay Luber is supplied in a 473 ml spray bottle, ready to use and without dilution.

Instructions for use of Clay Luber Chemical Guys clay bar lubricant

Clay Luber is used neat, directly with the sprayer, on a clean and cool bodywork. Work in the shade, area by area, and always keep the surface wet with product.

Bodywork decontamination

  1. Wash and rinse the entire vehicle before any clay work.
  2. Spray Clay Luber generously on an area of about 50 cm by 50 cm.
  3. Also spray the working face of the clay bar or clay block.
  4. Glide the clay flat, in straight movements and without pressing, until the surface becomes smooth to the touch.
  5. Re-spray as soon as the glide decreases, so that the area remains lubricated at all times.
  6. Wipe off the excess with a clean microfiber, then move on to the next area.

Windows, headlights and polished metals

  1. Spray Clay Luber on the window, headlight or polished part to be treated.
  2. Glide the clay until the roughness disappears under your fingers.
  3. Wipe with a microfiber and check the result against the light.

Precautions

  • Never use the clay on a dry or insufficiently lubricated surface.
  • Fold the clay regularly to present a clean face.
  • A clay that has fallen on the ground must be thrown away: it would bring back small stones onto the clear coat.
  • Decontamination removes the existing protections, so finish with a wax or a sealant.
