What is Chemical Guys' Wipe Out degreaser used for?

Wipe Out prepares the paint before applying a wax, a sealant or a ceramic coating. It dissolves old layers of protection as well as oils and greases deposited on the clear coat, and makes it easier to inspect the surface after polishing.

What is the difference between Wipe Out and an isopropyl alcohol degreaser?

Both remove the oils left by the polish, but Wipe Out contains lubricating and antistatic agents that limit the risk of micro-scratches during wiping. An isopropyl alcohol preparation works dry and requires more precautions on fragile clear coats.

Should you apply a degreaser after the polish?

Yes, that’s its main use in the workshop. The oils in the polish can mask scratches, and a pass of Wipe Out strips the paint back to bare to assess the real result before addressing a defect again with the V38 Finishing Polish.

When to use Wipe Out in a complete preparation?

It is used in the last step before protection, after washing, decontamination with the clay bar and polishing. Then wax or a sealant is applied, such as Jet Seal, without re-washing the bodywork between the two operations.

Chemical Guys Wipe Out degreaser is a surface prep spray designed to deep-clean paint before applying a protection. It dissolves and removes old layers of wax, sealants, polish residues, oils and greases, in order to leave bare clear coat on which the new protection can adhere properly. It is aimed both at the individual who is preparing their bodywork before a wax and at the detailer who is finishing a paint correction.

Reliable paint inspection

After polishing, the oils contained in the polish can temporarily mask scratches and micro-scratches. By removing these residues, Wipe Out strips the paint back and makes it possible to assess the work actually accomplished, then to address defects that are still visible with a finishing polish before protecting the surface.

A formula designed for wiping

The formula contains lubricating and anti-static agents that reduce the risk of creating new micro-scratches during wiping. It stands out in this respect from isopropyl alcohol-based preps, which work dry and are more demanding on fragile clear coats. Wiping is done with a clean, dry buffing microfiber.

Instructions for use of the Wipe Out Chemical Guys degreaser

Wipe Out is used at the end of preparation, once the bodywork has been washed and dried, just before applying the protection. Work in the shade, on cool paint, panel by panel, with clean microfiber towels.

After paint correction

Finish your polishing pass and remove most of the residue with a microfiber towel.
Spray the degreaser directly onto the panel, in sections of about half a hood.
Wipe in a single direction with a clean, dry microfiber towel.
Flip the microfiber towel to a clean side and wipe again to remove the remaining film.
Inspect the paint with a lamp and decide whether another polishing pass is necessary.

Before a wax, a sealant or a ceramic

Wash, dry and decontaminate the bodywork if necessary.
Spray Wipe Out on the area to be treated, panel by panel.
Wipe immediately with a clean microfiber towel, without letting the product dry on the clear coat.
Apply the protection on the bare surface, without waiting, to prevent the paint from picking up dust again.

Precautions

The product is intended for the vehicle’s painted surfaces, in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
Use only clean microfiber towels: a microfiber towel loaded with wax would bring residues back onto the clear coat.
Close the bottle after use and store it away from direct sunlight, out of reach of children.
