Polish Medium V36 Chemical Guys: the versatile corrective polish from the V range
The V36 Optical Grade Cutting Polish is step 3 of the four-step correction system from Chemical Guys. It is the least abrasive of the range’s correctors: it removes light to moderate defects, swirls, fine scratches, oxidation, and 2000 to 2500-grit sanding marks, while already leaving a very good level of gloss.
What V36 corrects
- Swirls and wash micro-scratches
- Light scratches and rotary haze
- Oxidation and loss of shine on old paints
- 2000 to 2500-grit sanding marks
- Dull or hazy headlight lenses and tail lights
The ideal polish for a one-step
V36 is the best cut/gloss compromise in the V range. On paint in good overall condition, it is used alone, in a single step, to restore clarity and gloss without going through a compound. Its water-based formula, without oils or fillers, hides nothing: the result obtained corresponds to the true condition of the clear coat. The integrated lubricants extend the working time and greatly limit dust.
Excellent on headlight lenses
V36 is particularly recommended for restoring polycarbonate headlights. After sanding or compounding, it restores the transparency of yellowed or opaque lenses and noticeably improves night lighting.
Which polish to choose in the V range?
- V32 Extreme — step 1, maximum cut. Heavy defects, hard paints, 1200-1500 sanding marks.
- V36 Medium — step 3, medium cut. Swirls, light scratches, 2000-2500 marks. Can be used alone in a one-step.
- V38 Finish — step 4, finishing. Removes compound marks and holograms for a mirror finish.
Instructions for use of Polish Medium V36
Work on a washed, decontaminated, and cool bodywork, in the shade, in 40 x 40 cm sections. Shake the bottle before each use.
With a dual action (DA) polisher
- Apply 4 to 5 drops of V36 onto a polishing pad.
- Spray 1 to 3 sprays of Pad Conditioner Chemical Guys to prime the pad.
- Spread the product at speed 1, without applying pressure.
- Work at speed 5, with moderate pressure, making 3 to 4 cross passes, until the product becomes transparent.
- Finish with light pressure, then wipe with a clean microfiber.
With a rotary polisher
- Apply 4 to 5 drops onto the pad and prime it with the Pad Conditioner.
- Spread the product between 1 000 and 1 200 rpm.
- Work the area between 1 200 and 1 500 rpm, crossing the passes.
- Wipe with a microfiber and check the result with a detailing lamp.
On headlight lenses
After progressive sanding up to 2500 grit, apply V36 with a polishing pad on a cool lens. Two to three passes are generally enough to restore transparency. Then protect the lens with a clear coat or a ceramic protection.
