What is the difference between the V32, V34, V36 and V38 polishes?

These four references cover the entire Chemical Guys correction range, from the most abrasive to the mildest. The Extreme V32 polish tackles major defects, the V34 sits just below with a medium cut, the Medium V36 polish treats light to moderate defects, and the Finish V38 polish is only used to bring back the shine.

Can the V34 be used with an orbital or rotary polisher?

Both machines are suitable. On an orbital polisher, work with moderate pressure until the product becomes transparent. On a rotary, let only the weight of the machine do the work, without pressing.

Should you apply a finishing polish after the V34?

It is not systematic, because the V34 already finishes as a fine polish. On demanding clear coats or for a very accomplished finish, an additional finishing pass brings more depth: that is the role of the V38 Finishing polish.

Does the V34 mask scratches with fillers?

No, the formula does not contain any masking agents. The visible result after wiping corresponds to the correction actually obtained; it therefore does not disappear after the first wash.

Can the V34 be used on dull headlights?

Yes, the V34 is also used on slightly oxidized optical plastics and on dull or hazy headlights. For a more thorough restoration, the Headlight Restorer headlight renovator remains more suitable.

The V34 Optical Grade Hybrid Compound from Chemical Guys is a medium-cut abrasive polish, designed for machine paint correction. It is intended for bodywork with hard clear coat that holds swirls and light scratches, where a finishing polish is no longer enough.

A hybrid compound that cuts and refines

The V34 gets its name from its dual behavior: it tackles light to moderate defects, then finishes down like a fine polish at the end of the pass. On many clear coats, it therefore allows you to correct and restore gloss without changing products during the job.

Its place in Chemical Guys’ V range

Chemical Guys correction is organized into four references. The Extreme V32 polish is the most abrasive and targets major defects on very hard clear coats. The V34 sits just below it. The Medium V36 polish treats light to moderate defects with a gentler cut, and the Finition V38 polish no longer corrects anything, but restores depth and shine.

No fillers and low dust

The formula contains no fillers: what remains visible after wiping corresponds to the correction actually achieved, with no effect that disappears at the first wash. The V34 also produces little polishing dust, which makes it easier to check the work between passes and limits cleaning of the bodywork.

Two sizes

The V34 is offered in a 118 ml bottle for occasional touch-ups and in a 473 ml bottle for complete corrections or regular workshop use.

Instructions for use of the V34 Chemical Guys hybrid abrasive polish

The V34 is used with a machine, on a clean and decontaminated bodywork. The pad chosen and the pressure applied weigh heavily on the result: always perform a test spot before treating the entire vehicle.

Correction with a dual action polisher

Wash and dry the bodywork, then decontaminate the clear coat if necessary.
Apply 4 to 5 drops of V34 to the pad.
Spread the product over the section to be treated, with the machine stopped or at minimum speed.
Work the section with moderate pressure until the product becomes transparent.
Remove residue with a clean microfiber, then check the surface under an inspection lamp.

Correction with a rotary polisher

Apply 4 to 5 drops of V34 to the pad.
Spread the product over the section before starting the machine.
Let only the weight of the polisher do the work, without pressing, until the product becomes transparent.
Wipe with a clean microfiber and check the result before moving on to the next section.

After using V34

Follow up with the Medium V36 polish if the cut needs to be refined.
Finish with the Finishing V38 polish to restore depth and gloss.
Then apply a protection, wax or sealant, on the leveled clear coat.

Precautions

Work in the shade, section by section, and keep the pad clean: a saturated pad loses cut and leaves marks. The Pad Conditioner is used to prime the pad before the first pass. Do not let the product dry on the bodywork and keep the bottle out of reach of children.
