The VSS Scratch and Swirl Remover is Chemical Guys’ one-step polish: it tackles defects like a compound, then refines like a finishing polish. It is aimed at detailers and private individuals equipped with a polisher who want to correct a marked clear coat without chaining two different products.
What the VSS polish corrects
Its evolving abrasive technology breaks down the grains as you work: the cut is strong at the start, then increasingly fine until the final glossing.

Compatible surfaces
The formula can be used on single-stage paint, on clear coat, and on ceramic finish, whatever the body color. It is water-based and remains suitable for use in a body shop.
A result without masking
VSS contains neither wax nor fillers: it therefore does not hide defects it has not corrected. What you see after the pass corresponds to the true condition of the clear coat, and the finish does not change after the first wash.
Pad choice
The final aggressiveness depends as much on the pad as on the polish. Chemical Guys recommends an orange pad for pronounced scratches, a green pad for medium defects, and a white pad for micro-scratches and finishing.
Where to place it in a correction
On a moderately marked clear coat, VSS alone is sufficient in 473 ml. On very damaged paint, start with a more aggressive compound like the Polish Extreme V32 Chemical Guys, then refine with the Polish Finition V38 Chemical Guys to remove the last hazes.
Instructions for use of VSS Scratch and Swirl Remover polish Chemical Guys
VSS is applied to a washed, decontaminated, and cool bodywork, away from direct sunlight. Shake the bottle well before each use and work in sections of about 40 x 40 cm, one area at a time.
Application with a dual action polisher
- Place 4 to 5 drops of polish on the pad.
- Prime the pad with the Lubrifiant Pad Conditioner Chemical Guys.
- Spread the product over the area at speed 1, machine flat.
- Switch to speed 5 or 6 and work the section in 2 to 3 passes, with moderate pressure, until the clear coat becomes clear again.
- Finish the last pass with light pressure, then remove residues with a clean microfiber cloth.
Application with a rotary polisher
- Place 4 to 5 drops on the pad and prime it with the pad conditioner.
- Spread the product between 1 000 and 1 500 rpm.
- Work the section in 3 to 4 passes using only the weight of the machine, without pressing.
- Perform the final pass between 1 200 and 1 800 rpm, until optimal clarity is achieved.
- Wipe residues with a clean microfiber cloth.
Application by hand
- Apply the polish to a polishing applicator.
- Work the 40 x 40 cm section in cross-hatch motions until defects are reduced.
- Remove the excess with a clean microfiber cloth.
Precautions
Never let the polish dry on the bodywork and do not work on a hot surface. Then degrease the clear coat with an isopropyl alcohol degreaser to check the real result, then apply a wax or a sealant: VSS leaves no protection behind.
