A microfiber mitt only protects the paint if it is used in the right order and rinsed regularly. Here are the recommended steps by FullCarX, supplemented by common hand-washing practices.

Routine bodywork wash

First rinse the vehicle with water to remove the coarsest dirt.
Prepare the shampoo solution according to the dilution indicated on the canister.
Soak the mitt and start with the upper areas: roof, windows, upper parts of the doors.
Rub horizontally, without pressing, letting the fibers do the work.
Rinse the mitt after each panel before dipping it back into the solution.
Finish with the lower parts, the most loaded with dirt.
Rinse the car, then dry it with a microfiber.

Wash after foam application

Apply the foam and let it work, without letting it dry on the bodywork.
Rinse to remove the foam and the loosened dirt.
Go back over with the mitt for the contact step, always from top to bottom.

Precautions

Do not work in direct sunlight or on hot bodywork.
If the mitt falls on the ground, wash it before reusing it: it will have picked up abrasive particles.
Rinse it thoroughly after each use and let it air-dry.
