The Chemical Guys Big Mouth Max Release foam cannon connects to a pressure washer wand and turns shampoo into a thick foam that clings to the bodywork. It is aimed at motorists who want a touchless pre-wash before washing with a mitt, in order to loosen dust and grime before a textile rubs them on the clear coat.
A foam that loosens dirt before the mitt
The foam produced by the Big Mouth coats the surface and lubricates it. Abrasive particles come loose and slide downward instead of being moved across the paint, which reduces the risk of micro-scratches and swirl marks during washing.

A 1 L wide-mouth reservoir

Instructions for use of the Big Mouth Max Release foam cannon
The foam cannon is used at the start of washing, before any contact with a mitt. The shampoo dosage and the order of the steps directly determine the density of the foam obtained.
Prepare the foam cannon
- Unscrew the 1 L reservoir and fill it with lukewarm water.
- Add 30 to 90 ml of car shampoo, depending on the desired foam density.
- Screw the reservoir back onto the body of the cannon, without forcing.
- Connect the cannon to the pressure washer lance.
Foam the vehicle
- Rinse the car with clean water to remove gravel and loose dust.
- Open the dial to release the foam and set the nozzle to the wide spray.
- Apply the foam from bottom to top over the entire bodywork.
- Switch to the concentrated spray for the wheel arches and hard-to-reach areas.
- Let it act for a few minutes, then rinse from top to bottom with clean water.
Precautions
- Work in the shade, on cool bodywork, to prevent the foam from drying.
- Observe the pressure range indicated by Chemical Guys, from 800 to 3 500 PSI, without ever exceeding 4 200 PSI.
- Rinse the reservoir and the nozzle with clean water after each use.
Compatibility and features of the Big Mouth foam cannon
The Big Mouth Max Release mounts on gasoline-powered as well as electric pressure washers. This version is supplied with an adapter for Kärcher K-series guns, the most widespread mount on the domestic market.

Check your pressure washer before purchase
The density of the foam depends mainly on the machine’s flow rate, more than on its pressure. A domestic pressure washer that delivers less than 5 L per minute will produce a more liquid foam, which will run faster on vertical surfaces. The flow rate and pressure are shown on the device’s nameplate or in its manual.
Which shampoo to use in the Big Mouth foam cannon
Not all shampoos foam the same way. So-called snow foam or active foam formulas are designed for the foam cannon and produce a dense foam that clings to vertical surfaces.

Dose without wasting
Chemical Guys recommends 30 to 90 ml of shampoo for a tank filled with lukewarm water. Start with the low dose, then increase if the foam lacks staying power. Beyond that, the foam becomes thicker, but takes longer to rinse, without cleaning any more.
After the pre-wash
The foam cannon removes the layer of loose dirt, but does not replace contact washing. Follow up with a chenille microfiber wash mitt and the two-bucket method to finish the cleaning.
