Long-range rally spotlights – spot & fog lights

A long-range rally spotlight is an additional headlamp equipped with a chromed parabolic reflector, which concentrates the light into a powerful, directional beam. It is used to light very far ahead of the vehicle, well beyond the range of standard headlights. Used in rally competition, off-road driving or on unlit roads, it considerably improves the driver’s safety and anticipation. Our models are available in Ø12, Ø15 and Ø18 cm at AGM Vision.

The rally spot spotlight concentrates the light in a narrow angle of about 30°, designed to illuminate as far as possible in front of the vehicle. It is ideal for high-speed straight lines. The flood fog light spreads the light over a wide angle of 90° to 120°, lighting low and wide to improve visibility in case of fog, rain or snow. For complete coverage, many drivers combine a central spot with two side fog lights.

The reflector diameter directly influences the range and power of the beam. The Ø12 cm is the most compact, perfect for vehicles with little space or as a lighting supplement. The Ø15 cm offers the best range/size compromise and is suitable for most uses in rallying and off-road. The Ø18 cm is the most powerful, with the maximum range, recommended for competition or long night journeys. All are available in spot and flood versions at AGM Vision.

Our rally spotlights use bulbs with a H3 base, a very common standard that is easy to find. The original H3 halogen bulb provides warm and powerful lighting. It is possible to replace it with a H3 LED bulb to gain brightness and lifespan, provided you check the thermal compatibility of the reflector. Replacement is tool-free and takes a few minutes: simply unclip the rear cover, remove the old bulb, and insert the new one.

Two types of mounting are available. Surface-mounted spotlights attach directly to the bull bar, the roof rack, or a tubular support using a clamping bracket. Framed (recessed) models fit into a cut-out in the bumper for a more discreet look. The wiring runs through a relay with switch, connected to the battery. The beam direction is adjusted manually after installation to optimize range without dazzling other road users.

In France, the use of additional long-range spotlights is governed by the Highway Code. They are permitted provided certain rules are respected: no more than 8 front lights in total (main beam, dipped beam and additional lights included), symmetrical mounting and compliant height. The spotlights must be switched off when passing an oncoming vehicle in order to avoid glare. In rally competition, there is no limitation on the number of headlights.
