Plastic restorer Blue Guard II Chemical Guys: deep black restored
The Blue Guard II Wet Look Premium Dressing by Chemical Guys is an exterior dressing intended for plastics, rubber, and whitened or dulled tires. It restores a darker, richer shade, as well as a long-lasting wet look, both on a daily driver and as part of a complete detailing preparation.
What Blue Guard II does
- Restores faded exterior plastics and rubber by bringing back a dark, even shade.
- Provides a glossy finish, known as a wet look effect, which can be intensified by layering coats.
- Dries to the touch and does not leave a greasy film on the treated surface.
- Filters UV and heat, responsible for discoloration, chalking, and cracking of plastic.
- Contains water-repellent agents that limit the action of water and humidity between washes.
Which surfaces to apply it to
The formula is designed for vinyl, rubber, and exterior plastics. It is therefore suitable for bumpers, fender flares, door strips and moldings, seals, mirror housings, and tire sidewalls. Unpainted raw plastics, the ones that gray the fastest on vehicles exposed to the sun, are its main target.
Dressing or simple cleaner
A cleaner removes dirt and residues, but it does not replace what the plastic has lost. Blue Guard II comes after cleaning: it conditions the material, revives the color, and leaves a protective barrier. The two steps are complementary, with cleaning preparing the surface so that the dressing adheres properly.
Capacity and coverage
The 473 ml spray bottle is dosed at a few sprays per part, onto an applicator rather than directly onto the bodywork. This application method limits consumption and avoids overspray on paint or windows. A single bottle thus covers many maintenance sessions on a complete vehicle.
Instructions for use of the Blue Guard II Chemical Guys plastic restorer
Blue Guard II is applied to a clean, dry surface. Preparation matters as much as the product itself: plastic that is still loaded with dust, wax, or wash residues will not hold the dressing well and will give an uneven result.
On exterior plastics and rubbers
- Clean the area to be treated and let it dry completely.
- Shake the bottle before use.
- Spray two to five pumps onto a microfiber applicator rather than onto the surface.
- Spread evenly, working the product into the material.
- Remove the excess with a clean microfiber to avoid runs.
- Wait five to ten minutes, then add a coat if you want a more pronounced finish.
On tire sidewalls
- Clean the sidewall and let it dry, otherwise the dressing will mark the old traces.
- Load the applicator, then run it around the entire circumference of the tire.
- Go over uneven areas before the product dries.
- Let it dry to the touch before driving to limit splatter onto the bodywork.
Precautions
Reserve Blue Guard II for exterior plastic, rubber, and vinyl surfaces. Avoid contact with paint, windows, and braking areas, and wipe up any overspray immediately. Keep the bottle closed, protected from frost and high heat, out of reach of children.
