Blue masking tape 48 mm: protect before polishing or painting
The 48 mm blue masking tape is a protective adhesive intended for automotive detailing and small bodywork jobs. Applied on seals, plastics, or trim strips, it prevents polish, sanding dust, or paint from reaching the areas to be preserved. Its 48 mm width makes it possible to quickly cover long lengths, making it a versatile format for preparing an entire vehicle.
Why mask before polishing
- Protect textured plastics and seals : polish embedded in a textured plastic is long and difficult to remove once dry.
- Preserve edges and trim strips : the tape limits the risk of marking sensitive areas when using the polisher.

Instructions for use of the 48 mm blue masking tape
Masking tape is always used on a clean, dry, degreased surface: dust or wax residues reduce its adhesion and let splashes through.
Before polishing
- Wash and dry the area to be treated, then degrease the surfaces to be masked.
- Unroll the tape and apply it to the seals, plastics and trim strips along the edge of the area to be polished.
- Press down with your fingertips to remove bubbles and firmly stick down the edges.
- Carry out your polishing, then remove the tape without waiting.
Before headlight restoration or a paint touch-up
- Mask the entire perimeter of the lens or the area to be treated, doubling the tape if necessary.
- Sand or apply the product, overlapping onto the tape rather than onto the bodywork.
- Remove the tape as soon as the work is finished, before the product has fully dried.
Good to know
- Remove the tape by pulling it at about 45 degrees for a clean peel.
- Do not leave the tape in place for several days, especially in direct sunlight.
- On fragile or recent paint, test first on a small inconspicuous area.
