Leather Serum Chemical Guys leather serum: UV protection and matte finish
The Leather Serum from Chemical Guys is a dry-to-the-touch protector for leather, intended for seats, dashboards, door panels, and center consoles whose leather is still in good condition. It does not clean the surface: it seals and nourishes leather that is already clean in order to preserve its original appearance.
What the serum brings to leather
- It blocks UV rays responsible for fading and cracking.
- It forms a protective coating that repels body oils, dirt, and liquid splashes.
- It penetrates the pores of the leather to nourish it from the inside and restore a supple texture.
- It leaves a natural matte finish, without greasy shine or a plasticized effect.
Long-lasting protection
Chemical Guys claims a protective coating that can last up to sixteen months per application. The serum dries to the touch: once absorbed, it does not leave a greasy film on the seats, armrest, or dashboard, which prevents transfer onto clothing and unwanted reflections in the windshield.
Compatible surfaces
It is used on natural leather, modern pigmented leather, synthetic leather, faux leather, and vinyl. Its use goes beyond the cabin: it is also suitable for leather furniture, jackets, shoes, and leather goods, which makes it possible to treat all the leathers in the same interior with a single product.
When to use it
The serum comes in as the final step of leather care, after using the Leather Cleaner leather cleaner. On light-colored leather exposed to the sun, on a vehicle parked outside, or on a collector's upholstery, it limits premature aging of the most heavily used areas: seat bolsters, armrests, and the top of the backrest.
Instructions for use of the Leather Serum Chemical Guys leather serum
The serum is applied to clean, dry leather, away from direct sunlight and on a surface that is cool to the touch. Allow about ten minutes for a complete interior, excluding drying time.
Prepare the surface
- Dust the upholstery and adjacent plastics.
- Clean the leather with a dedicated leather cleaner to remove dirt, grease, and body oils.
- Wipe and let dry completely before moving on to the serum.
Apply the serum
- Place one to three lines of product on a microfiber applicator.
- Spread the serum evenly over one area at a time, seat by seat or panel by panel.
- Work it in with small circular motions until fully absorbed.
- Wipe off the excess with a clean microfiber, then let dry for a few minutes in open air.
Good to know
The finish should remain matte and dry to the touch: a surface that remains slippery indicates excess to remove. Test the product on an inconspicuous area before a complete treatment, especially on light or perforated leather, and avoid saturating the perforations of ventilated seats. Reapply when water no longer beads and the leather becomes rough again.
Precautions
Keep the bottle closed, protected from freezing and high heat, and out of reach of children. Do not apply the serum to torn leather, leather that is cracked down to the raw layer, or leather whose dye transfers to the cloth: these defects require restoration, not a maintenance product. On nubuck and suede leathers, unpigmented and absorbent, prefer a specific treatment.
