LED truck bulb H4 24V – dual filament low beam & high beam

The H4 LED 24V bulb is a dual filament bulb designed to replace the original halogen on 24-volt vehicles (heavy goods vehicles, trucks, buses, coaches). It is used for dipped beams and main beams in the same headlamp. The H4 (P43t) bulb combines dipped and main beam in a single base, very common on older 24V heavy goods vehicles and commercial vehicles. The LED version offers a brightness of 5,000 to 8,000 (combined) lumens, with reduced consumption of more than 70% compared to halogen. Installing an H4 LED 24V is simple and generally requires no modification to the wiring. Switch off the ignition, access the headlight unit from the rear of the headlamp, remove the original H4 halogen bulb by turning the base a quarter turn, then insert the H4 LED in the same direction. Check the beam orientation: the LEDs must be positioned horizontally (at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock) in order to reproduce the correct cut-off. If your truck displays an error message, add a 24V anti-error module. The operation takes about 15 to 30 minutes per headlamp.

Compatibility depends on the original base of your vehicle. Check in the technical manual or directly on the bulb in place that the format is indeed H4. For a H4 LED 24V, power is measured in lumens rather than watts. A good H4 LED kit delivers between 5 000 and 8 000 lumens (combined) for lighting clearly superior to the original halogen (about 1 500 lm). Choose a color temperature between 5 500 K and 6 500 K for a pure white that improves visibility. Also check the type of LED chip used: CSP or Lumileds ZES chips offer a better brightness/compactness ratio. The actual power consumed by a 24V H4 LED is generally between 25 W and 55 W per bulb, depending on the models.

It depends on the electronic system of your heavy-duty vehicle. Recent trucks equipped with a CAN bus (most Scania, Volvo, MAN and DAF post-2010) detect the low consumption of the LED and may display an error warning light on the dashboard. A 24V anti-error module (or CAN bus resistor) solves this problem by simulating the consumption of the H4 halogen bulb. Older models without onboard electronics generally do not need it.
