LED truck bulb H1 24V – High brightness

The H1 LED 24V bulb is a single-filament bulb designed to replace the original halogen on 24-volt vehicles (heavy goods vehicles, trucks, buses, coaches). It is used for dipped beam headlights, high beams or fog lights. Its single-tab base, with P14.5s connector, is one of the oldest standards used on European heavy goods vehicles. The LED version offers a brightness of 4,000 to 6,000 lumens, with reduced consumption of more than 70% compared to halogen. Installing a 24V H1 LED is simple and generally requires no modification to the wiring. Switch off the ignition, access the housing from the rear of the headlight, remove the original H1 halogen bulb by turning the base a quarter turn, then insert the H1 LED in the same direction. Check the beam orientation: the LEDs must be positioned horizontally (at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock) in order to reproduce the correct cut-off. If your truck displays an error message, add a 24V anti-error module. The operation takes about 15 to 30 minutes per headlight.

Compatibility depends on the original base of your vehicle. Check in the technical manual or directly on the bulb in place that the format is indeed H1. Pay attention to the available space behind the headlamp: some LEDs are longer than halogen because of the heat sink. Measure the depth before purchase. For a H1 LED 24V, power is measured in lumens rather than watts. A good H1 LED kit delivers between 4,000 and 6,000 lumens for lighting that is clearly superior to the original halogen (around 1,500 lm). Choose a color temperature between 5,500 K and 6,500 K for a pure white that improves visibility. Also check the type of LED chip used: CSP or Lumileds ZES chips offer a better brightness/compactness ratio. The actual power consumed by a 24V H1 LED is generally between 25 W and 55 W per bulb, depending on the models.

It depends on the electronic system of your heavy goods vehicle. Recent trucks equipped with a CAN bus (most Scania, Volvo, MAN and DAF post-2010) detect the LED’s low power consumption and may display an error warning light on the dashboard. A 24V anti-error module (or CAN bus resistor) solves this problem by simulating the consumption of the H1 halogen bulb. Older models without onboard electronics generally do not need one.
