To choose the right 24V LED Festoon, first check the original base of your current bulb: it must match the 31 mm, 36 mm, 39 mm or 42 mm festoon format. Then, check the required color: white for reverse and position lights, orange for turn signals, red for brake lights. The brightness in lumens must be sufficient to ensure regulatory visibility. Yes, replacement is very simple and requires no special tools. Remove the original bulb by turning it a quarter turn (bayonet base) or by pulling it out (wedge base). Insert the 24V LED in the same direction. For bayonet bases, align the lugs with the slots in the holder. Turn on the lights to check operation. If the LED does not light up, turn it 180° (polarity reversal). If an error message appears on the dashboard, add a 24V anti-error module in parallel. The operation takes less than 5 minutes per bulb.

It depends on the electrical system of your heavy goods vehicle. If the truck is equipped with a CAN bus or a burnt-out bulb detection system, the LED’s low power consumption can trigger an error warning light or rapid flashing. In this case, a 24V load resistor (or anti-error module) connected in parallel solves the problem. Older trucks, without onboard electronics, generally don’t need it.
