The choice depends on the type of base of your original headlight. The H4 is the most common on European and Japanese motorcycles, the HS1 equips scooters and small-displacement bikes, the BA20d classic motorcycles, and the H6M (P15D) Asian scooters. Remove your current bulb and check the base marking. Then, choose an LED with a luminous flux of at least 2,000 lumens and a compact format suited to the space behind your headlight. In France, regulations require that headlight bulbs be approved (ECE marking). Most LED replacement bulbs are not yet approved for road use and are sold for off-road or track use. However, regulations are evolving, and some European countries are gradually authorizing approved LED retrofit kits. In practice, quality LEDs, with a properly adjusted beam and a sharp cutoff line, pass the technical inspection in most cases. Check the regulations in force before installation.

The H4 and the HS1 share the same P43t base and are physically interchangeable. The difference lies in the power: the H4 operates at 60/55 watts (high/low beam), while the HS1 is limited to 35/35 watts. The HS1 is designed for motorcycles and scooters whose alternator cannot power an H4 at full output. In LED version, this distinction is less important, because both consume very little. Check the marking on your original bulb to order the exact reference from AGM Vision.

Measure the available space behind your headlight before buying. Remove the original bulb and the rear waterproof cover, then measure the depth in millimeters. Motorcycle LED bulbs with an integrated fan add about 15 to 25 mm in length compared to halogen. Models with a passive heat sink (aluminum fins) are more compact, but dissipate less heat. Compare these measurements with the dimensions indicated on the AGM Vision product sheet. Don’t forget to check that the waterproof cover can close properly after installation.

The installation takes about 15 minutes. Turn off the ignition and access the rear of the headlight (remove the fairing if necessary). Unplug the electrical connector, remove the watertight cover and take out the halogen bulb (quarter turn or clips). Insert the LED bulb by aligning the tabs on the base, then lock it. Plug the connector back in. If the LED does not light up, reverse the polarity of the connector. Check the beam in front of a wall: the cutoff line must be sharp and horizontal. A height adjustment via the headlight screw may be necessary.

Yes, a motorcycle LED bulb uses 60 to 80% less energy than a halogen one, at equivalent or higher brightness. For example, a H4 LED uses about 20 to 30 watts, versus 60/55W for halogen, while producing a luminous flux 2 to 3 times higher.
