The P36d base and its origins

The P36d base is an old format with 3 lugs and a dual filament, used on classic European motorcycles (British, German, Italian) from the 1960s to the 1980s. This 36 mm diameter base has become rare in halogen. The P36d LED bulb lets you keep the original headlamp while benefiting from modern lighting, whiter and more powerful, without modifying the wiring.

Fitting an LED to an old circuit

Vintage motorcycles often run on 6V or 12V with a simpler electrical circuit. Check the voltage of your circuit before buying (most P36d LEDs are 12V). If your motorcycle is still on 6 volts, a conversion to 12V may be necessary. Make sure the voltage regulator is working properly: LEDs are sensitive to overvoltage, which can damage them.
