LED lighting control enclosures and modules

A DRL module (Daytime Running Light) is an electronic box that automatically manages the switching on and off of the daytime running lights of your vehicle. It detects engine start via the alternator voltage and turns on the LEDs, then turns them off when you activate the headlights or switch off the ignition. This ensures compliance with European regulations, which have required daytime running lights on new vehicles since 2011. The DRL modules offered by AGM Vision operate at 12V to 16V and support up to 2.5 amperes.

A wiring harness with remote control is a complete kit that integrates a power relay, a wireless receiver and a remote control to control your LED lights remotely. The receiver connects between the battery and the LEDs, the relay switches the current and the remote control sends a radio signal to turn on or off. Available in 30A (premium) and 40A (high power), with waterproof Deutsch connectors, these harnesses are suitable for LED light bars and auxiliary headlights installed on vehicles where a wired switch would be difficult to place.

A strobe module adds a strobe effect (rapid flashing) to an existing LED light. It connects between the power supply and the LED, and generates sequences of intermittent flashes. The most common model is the stop strobe module, which makes the brake light flash 3 to 5 times quickly during braking to attract the attention of following drivers, then keeps it continuously on. This device significantly improves braking visibility and reduces the risk of a rear-end collision. Compatible with any LED operating at 12V to 16V.

The difference lies in the maximum switching capacity of the integrated relay. A 30 amp harness supports LED lighting up to about 360 watts at 12V, which is sufficient for the majority of LED light bars and auxiliary headlights. The 40 amp harness goes up to 480 watts at 12V, which is necessary for high-power LED light bars or installations combining multiple lights on the same circuit. Both models include waterproof 2-pin Deutsch connectors and a remote control. If in doubt, choose the 40A to benefit from a comfortable safety margin.

European regulations (EC R87) require daytime running lights on all new vehicles since February 2011. Older vehicles have no legal obligation, but can benefit from adding daytime running lights to improve their daytime visibility. A DRL module is required so that the daytime running lights switch on and off automatically according to the regulations: switching on at start-up, switching off with the headlights. If your LEDs are controlled manually by a switch, the DRL module is not mandatory, but is still recommended for ease of use.

The connection of an electronic module is done in series between the power supply and the LED lighting. For a DRL module, connect the input to the ignition circuit (switched wire) and the output to the LED daytime running lights. For a strobe module, insert it between the brake light power wire and the LED. Each AGM Vision module is delivered with a clear wiring diagram indicating the wires by color code. The connections are made with crimp terminals or by soldering, with heat-shrink tubing. The whole setup requires only basic tools and takes 15 to 30 minutes.
