The 2.5 mm² cross-section handles currents of 20 to 25 amps, and is suited to powerful LED light bars, installations with multiple lights, or long-distance circuits. As a general rule, if the total power of your lights exceeds 150 watts at 12V, choose 2.5 mm² to avoid any voltage drop and overheating.

The number of conductors determines the wiring possibilities. The 2-wire cable includes a power (+) wire and a ground (-) wire, sufficient for a simple circuit, such as a single LED headlight. The 3-wire cable adds a third conductor, usable as a control wire (signal from a remote switch) or to power a secondary function (parking light). The 4-wire cable makes it possible to manage two independent circuits in the same sheath, ideal for controlling two separate lights with a single cable run.

To determine the required cable length, measure the actual route between the power source (battery or control box) and each LED light to be connected. Add a 10 to 15% margin for bends, runs through conduits, and connections. For a standard 4x4, generally allow 3 to 5 meters between the battery and a roof LED light bar.
