OEM xenon ballasts – Genuine Hella, Valeo, Bosch parts

An OEM ballast (Hella, Valeo, Bosch, Denso) is identical to the one installed at the factory, guaranteeing perfect compatibility with the vehicle’s electronics. It is recognized by the onboard computer without requiring an anti-error module. Its voltage regulation is optimized for the vehicle’s specific bulb series. On premium vehicles (BMW, Audi, Mercedes), an OEM ballast avoids electronic compatibility issues. The higher price is justified by reliability and longevity. AGM Vision offers the most common OEM references.

The OEM reference is indicated on a label stuck on the ballast. The most common references: Hella 5DV 009 000-00 (D2S/R), Hella 5DV 009 610-00 (D1S/R), Valeo LAD5G/LAD5GL (D1S), Valeo 6G (D3S), Bosch AL 1 307 329 074 (D2S) and Denso DDLT004 (D4S). If the label is erased, look for the reference in the technical documentation for your vehicle or on specialized forums. AGM Vision helps with identification free of charge, upon request.

A used OEM ballast may work, but it carries risks. Its remaining lifespan is unknown, and the internal electronic components (capacitors, transistors) age even when not in use. A used ballast may have been subjected to overvoltage or invisible water ingress. The used price is often close to that of a new aftermarket one, which makes the choice questionable. For a reliable replacement, AGM Vision recommends a new OEM ballast or a quality aftermarket one, with a warranty, rather than a used OEM.

New OEM ballasts sold by AGM Vision come with a manufacturer warranty covering manufacturing defects. The warranty period varies depending on the manufacturer, generally 1 to 2 years. This warranty covers premature failures, but not damage caused by improper installation, water ingress, or a power surge. Keep your purchase invoice as proof. Aftermarket AGM Vision ballasts also come with a warranty, to ensure you a replacement in case of a problem.

No, Hella ballasts exist in several non-interchangeable versions. The Hella 5DV 009 000-00 is for the D2 series (separate ballast), the 5DV 009 610-00 for the D1 series (integrated) and the 5DV 009 720-00 for D3. The connectors, voltages and communication protocols with the vehicle differ. In addition, Hella produces manufacturer-specific versions with adapted mountings. Identify the complete 12-digit reference for an exact replacement. AGM Vision lists each version.

The price of a new OEM ballast varies depending on the brand and the series: a Hella D2 costs between 80 and 150 euros, a Valeo D1/D3 between 100 and 180 euros, a Bosch D2 between 90 and 160 euros, and a Denso D4 between 100 and 200 euros. Prices at a car dealership are often 2 to 3 times higher. AGM Vision offers OEM ballasts at a competitive price, with fast delivery from France.
