BAX 8.4D counter LED

The BAX 8.4D base is a miniature twist-lock format (quarter turn) used for dashboard and instrument cluster lighting on many vehicles, notably Peugeot, Renault and VW. The white BAX 8.4D Easy Connect bulb directly replaces the original bulb for modern LED backlighting.

The two bases are very close, but the BAX 8.3D has a slightly smaller diameter (8.3 mm) than the BAX 8.4D (8.4 mm). They are not always interchangeable. Check the marking on the original bulb or measure the base diameter to choose the right model.

Remove the instrument cluster (generally 2 to 4 screws), turn it over to access the bulb sockets, turn each socket a quarter turn to remove it, then remove the bulb and insert the LED. The operation takes about 30 minutes. Our Easy Connect LEDs make connection easier.

Yes, we offer the BAX 8.4D LEDs in white for a modern look, and in green to keep the original backlighting of certain instrument clusters. Other colors (blue, red) may be available depending on the range.

On the contrary, switching to LED generally improves readability thanks to more uniform and brighter lighting. The light is better distributed over the entire dial. Choose the color suited to your gauge to preserve the original visual harmony.

A Phillips screwdriver is generally sufficient to remove the instrument cluster. BAX 8.4D bulbs are removed by turning the socket a quarter turn. No special tool is required. Remember to disconnect the battery before the operation to avoid any short circuit.
