After installing an LED bulb in place of your old headlight, it is common to see error lights on your dashboard. LEDs consume much less current than a standard bulb or a Xenon light, and the vehicle's electronic monitoring interprets this as a faulty light. Choosing the right OBD anti-error box for LED
Mounting systems and types of LED bulbs are numerous. Our first piece of advice: choose an OBD module compatible with the bulbs installed in your vehicle in order to increase their efficiency!
All high-end models of anti-error OBD modules, like those sold by AGM Vision, are capable, in addition to removing fault lights on the dashboard, of regulating LED power to obtain optimal lighting. The module automatically adapts to the LED bulb; that is why it is advisable to choose a model suited to your bulbs.
Install LED lights without errors with an OBD module
The most efficient anti-error modules (like AGM Vision’s Suprême H7 OBD module) can fool any onboard electronic system. Their installation is of the “plug'n play” type and extends the lifespan of bulbs, whether LED or Xenon.
The primary function of the OBD module is to make your LED bulbs operate optimally. On many vehicles, especially German cars, it is common to observe flickering or flashing of the lights after installing an LED bulb. The Suprême module is regulated to stop this phenomenon.
AGM Vision’s high-end OBD modules also act directly for your safety by combating unexpected LED shut-offs. Indeed, when you switch to high beam, it is not uncommon to see the light go out for a few moments while driving.
On some cars, LED bulbs cause crackling in the audio output of your multimedia system. The OBD module will eliminate electrical interference induced in the vehicle’s audio circuit so that you can enjoy your music with complete peace of mind. This capability also acts on other circuits, such as the windshield wipers, for example. Their design, with two galvanically isolated circuits, makes it possible to effectively combat short circuits and protect all of your onboard systems.
AGM Vision anti-error OBD modules
There are also simple anti-error OBD modules, like AGM Vision’s Can-Pro modules. Very compact, they make installation on the vehicle easier, notably on motorcycles, cars and even trucks with the Can-Pro 24v. Can-bus modules are made up of an electronic circuit and a balancing resistor to fool your electronic system. They are very effective at eliminating error messages “burnt-out bulb”, in particular errors linked to low electrical consumption. In this specific case, Can-Pro’s success rate is 95%.
Can-Pro is recommended for LED bulbs with a power between 15 and 45 watts. The system can be very useful for higher-power LEDs: a slight increase in electrical consumption is sometimes the best solution to solve OBD error problems.
If you notice a persistent error accompanied by operating bugs in your LEDs, this may also be due to electrical instability. In this case, please choose our anti-error module / digital filter “Ultra”, an excellent module for smoothing electrical current, or our anti-error module “Suprême”, which brings together the best of both modules: Can-Pro and Ultra.
