The difference lies in the supply voltage of the electrical circuit. Older and compact tractors generally operate on 12 volts, while large machines (high-power tractors, combine harvesters, excavators) use 24 volts. Installing a 12V LED on a 24V circuit will destroy it instantly. Conversely, a 24V LED on a 12V circuit will not light up. Installation is simple and requires no modification to the wiring. Switch off the ignition, access the rear of the headlight and remove the original halogen bulb (quarter turn or clips depending on the base). Insert the LED bulb into the bulb holder, respecting the positioning of the tabs, then lock it. Check that the heat sink or the LED fan does not prevent closing the rear watertight cover. Switch on and check the light beam: a height adjustment may be necessary. The operation takes about 10 to 15 minutes per headlight.

For an agricultural tractor or a construction machine, a minimum IP67 protection rating is recommended.
