🔌 Low beam headlights: installation and precautions

1. Preparation before installation

  • Identify the height of the original light beam with halogen bulbs, ideally at night or in the dark, so you can compare after installing the LEDs.
  • Only do this step if you are sure your headlights are already properly adjusted. Otherwise, plan a visit to the mechanic after installation for a professional adjustment.

2. Removing the original H7 halogen bulbs

  • Remove the two cover caps: one on the grille side, the other on the engine side.
  • Disconnect the connector, making rocking movements if necessary.
  • Press on the retaining clip while shifting it slightly to release the bulb.

Two types of LEDs are possible:

  • High-performance LEDs with rear ventilation, for maximum power.
  • GTS 1.1 compact LEDs, easier to install, with a precise light beam and brightness 450 % higher than the original: AGM Vision GTS 1.1 Slim

⚠️ Very powerful models must be chosen carefully to avoid glare.

3. Installation depending on the type of LED

H7 LED with rear ventilation for low beams:

  • Remove the metal ring from the LED (quarter turn).
  • Install it in the headlight housing (place a cloth in case of accidental drop).
  • Orient the keying tab upward.
  • Insert the LED into the ring, then lock with a quarter turn.
  • Orient the cable upward or downward (never at an angle).
  • Connect the connector. If the LED does not light up, reverse the connection (polarity).

GTS 1.1 compact H7 LEDs for low beams:

  • Install the LED directly, like an original bulb.
  • Clip the retaining clip.
  • Connect the connector (no specific direction).
  • Put the two cover caps back on for sealing.

4. Beam adjustment

  • Test the lighting at night. If the beam is too high, adjust the position of the LED or use the adjustment wheel in the cabin.
  • For an optimal result, have it adjusted in a garage with a headlight aiming device.

🔍 Common issue: connecting H1 LEDs on Clio 4

Some users have difficulty connecting their H1 LEDs. Don’t panic: we explain how to do it, and above all how to choose your LEDs properly.

💡 Key tip: choose 360° LEDs

For high beams, it is essential to choose powerful LEDs, with a 360° beam, with precise focus. This guarantees efficient lighting without modifying the headlight optics.

👉 Recommendation:

Pack LED High beams Clio 4 (2 covers included + H1 LED 360° bulb kit)

⚠️ Why avoid standard LEDs?

  • The H1 bulb is positioned laterally in the headlight unit.
  • A standard LED does not orient the light correctly.
  • Result: incomplete beam, reduced range, non-uniform lighting.

✅ With a well-designed LED, you get a powerful, well-distributed light that complies with road regulations, without tinkering or modification.

1. Removing the original H1 halogen bulbs

  • Remove the headlight cover, located next to the car’s fender.
  • Remove the connector and the clip (press/shift, then lift).
  • Remove the original bulb.

2. Installing H1 LEDs for the high beam

  • Remove the metal ring from the LED by pulling upward.
  • Install the previously removed metal ring in the headlight (use a cloth to prevent it from falling).
  • Reattach the clip to hold the ring.
  • Do not put the LED back into the ring right away: first do the wiring.

3. Clio 4-specific wiring

How to correctly connect the LED ground?

LED bulbs have two wires (positive and ground), but the Clio 4 has only one visible connector, which can be confusing. Most often, the ground wire (–) is hard to identify because it is hidden in the headlight housing.

  • 🔌 Black wire (–) of the LED: connect it to the female connector located at the bottom of the headlight housing (note: the wire is sometimes white or brown). Use a flathead screwdriver to pull it out. It is located about 1 cm around the original location of the H1 bulb.
  • 🔴 Red wire (+) of the LED: connect it to the original female socket, the one used by the H1 halogen bulb.

👉 Once both wires are connected, you can insert the LED into its housing.

4. Waterproof cover to plan for

  • The original cover often no longer closes after installing LEDs for high beams. No problem: AGM Vision provides deeper covers (included in this pack Pack LED High beams Clio 4) with the same diameter as the original, to ensure sealing.

❌ Mistakes to avoid

  • Installing LEDs without adjusting the headlights: risk of dazzling other drivers.
  • Reversed polarity: if the LED does not light up, reverse the connection.
  • Incorrect orientation: poorly directed beam = reduced visibility.
  • No waterproof cover: moisture can cause failures.
  • Wrong choice of LEDs for high beams.
