Its original lighting is based on H7 halogen bulbs for dipped beams and main beams, offering decent, but limited performance. On the 208, dipped beams and main beams use the H7 base. This is the priority lighting position to convert to LED: where the halogen bulb delivers about 55 W and 1,500 lumens, an H7 LED kit can reach 70 to 170 W and up to 32,000 lumens, in 6000-6500K white. The 1:1 format, which reproduces the exact dimensions of the halogen, is recommended to make installation easier in the 208’s compact headlamp unit.

The other lighting positions are not left out: the front fog lights use a PSX24W base, the front and rear turn signals a PY21W, the sidelights and daytime running lights a W21/5W, and the license plate lighting as well as the interior a W5W. As the Peugeot 208 is a multiplexed CANbus vehicle, it is important to choose LED kits that include an anti-error resistor in order to avoid a fault display on the dashboard.
