Daytime running light modules – automatic switching on and off

A DRL (Daytime Running Lights) module is an electronic unit that automatically turns on your LED daytime running lights as soon as the engine starts and turns them off or reduces their intensity when the low beam headlights are switched on. The adjustable dual-intensity DRL module is our most popular solution.

Daytime running lights are mandatory on new vehicles since 2011 in Europe and considerably improve the vehicle’s daytime visibility. A DRL module makes it possible to add this feature to older cars that are not originally equipped with it, thereby enhancing road safety.

The adjustable dual-intensity DRL module operates in two modes: full power as daytime running lights (engine on, headlights off), then reduced intensity when the low beams are switched on. This automatic switching complies with ECE R87 regulations.

The DRL module connects between the 12V battery (power supply), the sidelights/low beam wire (switching signal) and the daytime running light LEDs. The DRL LED 633 unit includes a wiring diagram for a guided installation.

DRL modules compliant with the ECE R87 standard are approved for road use in Europe. They must turn on automatically at startup and reduce their intensity or turn off when the low beam headlights are activated. Check for the ECE R87 marking on the product sheet.

Yes, the DRL module is compatible with most 12V LED light bars, LED strips and LED bulbs. It is inserted into the power supply circuit and automatically manages switching on as well as intensity switching. The maximum intensity is adjustable via a potentiometer on the module.
