What is a DRL module?
A DRL module (Double Adjustable Intensity) is a box that allows the automatic switching on and off of daytime running lights. There are two types of DRL modules:
- The DRL STD module, the simplest to install. This module not only offers the possibility to automatically turn on the daytime running lights, but also to adjust their light intensity. You can thus reduce your brightness by 50% when using low beams and have full power the rest of the time. To install it, simply connect the + and – wires directly to the battery and plug the yellow connector into the power wire of the low beams. This type of box works with a minimum voltage of 13.5 volts. By using this DRL module, your daytime running lights will turn on when the engine starts and turn off automatically when stopped.
- The Multifunction DRL module has more options than a standard DRL module and ensures automatic management of your LED daytime running lights. In addition to the automatic switching on of the LEDs when the vehicle is started, it offers a double intensity function. With this more complete type of module, it is possible to deactivate the daytime running lights with the right or left turn signal. The Strobe function, which can be activated with a button, allows you to give a double warning when braking or honking.
In which cases should you use a DRL module?
Have you decided to install new daytime running lights on your vehicle? Be aware that some models of daytime running lights are not sold with an automatic device. However, the law requires that your daytime running lights turn on and off automatically. At night, your daytime running lights must also be turned off or dimmed.
This is the situation that our approved DRL modules address, compatible with all types of lights sold on the market:
- LED bulb for daytime running lights
- LED bulb for turn signal
- LED bulb for position lights
- LED bulb for brake lights
- LED bulb for stop lights
The advantages of using a DRL module
By using a DRL module for your vehicle, you benefit from secure and automatic management of your daytime running lights. Your LED daytime running lights installation will comply with the legislation on additional headlights. The direct connection to the battery makes it a very easy box to install.
